Namibia's own mini-Okavango
AT the confluence of four mighty rivers is a region of swamps and flood plains, from where the traveler can explore these beautiful wetlands from a dugout canoe - an experience quite unlike anything else in the vast, dry country of Namibia.

The gateway to the eastern Caprivi is the small town of Katima Mulilo, from which it is only an hour's flight to the great destinations of Okavango and Chobe National
Parks in Botswana and Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe. There are several safari lodges in the area where activities include fishing, hiking and game-viewing. From Katima Mulilo, the visitor can explore along the mighty Kunene and Zambezi rivers, and although wildlife populations have suffered terribly through poaching, recovery of this precious asset is proceeding rapidly. In the town itself, there is an art center, where the visitor can view and buy distinctive pottery, wood carvings and basketry from the region.
